Founding Meeting Minutes

Iowa Herding Dog Association

Founding Meeting

Residence:  Richard/Cynthia Sadecky

The first meeting to form the Iowa Herding Dog Association was held August 2, 1987 at the home of Richard and Cynthia Sadecky.  The first order of business was to elect officers.  The following officers were elected:

     President:  Cynthia Sadecky

     Vice President:  John Klein

     Secretary:  Susan Thorp

     Treasurer:  Lois Gray

Board Members:  Bob Vest, Melanie Snyder, Vern Thorpe

Les Simons volunteered to do the newsletter.

Advertising, promotion and the logo were discussed.  Melanie Snyder desinged several logos for the association.  The members present chose on to represent the club.  It was then decided that the association would invest in hats and t-shirts....

It was decided that hats and shirts would be red.  The logo design would be in white background.  Lettering would be in red.  Iowa will be outlined.  Border Collie blaze to remain in white.  The logo used on the t-shirt will be the same size as the one located on the hat.  The logo on the t-shirt will be on the left side of the shirt.

The By-laws and Constitution were discussed.  Melanie moved that the association accept the By-laws and Constitution..  Nate seconded the motion.  The Motion was approved.

An application form was developed for the club by Les Simons.  She presented the form.  The form was accepted.

The following are charter members of the club:  John & Jeri Klein, Melanie Snyder, Richard E Cynthia Sadecky, Les and Leroy Simons, Frank & Lois Gray, Nate & Dolly Brown, Bob Vest and Vern & Susan Thorp.

It was decided to hold a clinic on September 27th at the Sedeckys.  This will be the first event sponsored by the association.  Bob Vest will instruct the clinic.

The meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,

"Susan Thorp"
